Travelling to the Maldives

Happy New Year!
I wish you all a wonderful and healthy and happy 2017!
This year I got to spend NYE in Thailand with my family.

Last week I travelled to the Maldies, a destination where I always wanted to go to!
We flew from Amsterdam to Abu Dhabi and from Abu Dhabi to Male airport, where the adventure began.
Male, is the main airport from the Maldives and from there you can either go with a sea plane to the resort or by speedboat.
Our resort was not so far from Male, so we were picked up by speedboat.

When we arrived to the Velassaru resort, I couldn’t believe the beauty of the island.
White sandy beaches and the clear blue lagoon.
Something that was a surprise to me is that the Maldives has 2000 islands!
We were staying at the Velassaru resort which was stunning and one of the bigger islands.
You could walk the entire island in around 20 minutes, which doesn’t seem big but compared to other ones it is.

The people are so friendly, the food was amazing and we had the best time discovering this beautiful island.
It’s so different than any other place in the world.
The idea that you are on an island that is so small is really strange but also very relaxing at the same time.
When waking up you could hear the waves and at night you we would see the sun setting down in the sea, so magical.
A full review about my stay will be up on my blog soon, so tay tuned. 🙂

In the mean time, have a look on my Instagram: @laurencemagaly to see more posts and add me on Snapchat: laurencemagaly.
We will be staying here for a couple more days and after that we are going back home to Amsterdam.

I hope you enjoyed the last days of 2016 and that you had a great start of 2017!

Love,
Laurence

My husband and I have been wanting to go to both Thailand and Maldives for some time now, both of which we’ve heard so many great things about! Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

Liefde voor zulke plekken! Ik hoop er ook echt ooit heen te gaan. Het lijkt me ook heerlijk rustig, niet al te veel mensen enzo 😉 X
